What’s stopping your organization from fully implementing EBP?
We understand that there are a number of challenges to integrating evidence-based practice into the unit—time constraints, cultural issues, staff development, budget concerns. That is why we offer a range of services, tailored to meet you where you’re needs — and help you get where you want to go.
Interactive Training
Introduction to EBP 2 to 4 hours
Goal: To provide an overview of what evidence-based practice is, why it is important, and how it can be implemented in your organization in a time and cost-efficient manner.
Ideal for: Directors, quality improvement staff, librarians, managers, and other key decision-makers and operations personnel.
This seminar answers the question, “What is evidence-based practice and why should we use it?” It addresses key concepts within EBP such as the critical appraisal of research, defining EBP for the individual organization, and using evidence and strategies to overcome barriers to implementation. Attendees will also learn how the CWA Blueprint© can be used to architect a smoother transition to an evidence-based clinical unit.
This seminar can be offered several times in one day or over several days to educate a broad audience.
Building an Evidence-Based Unit Full-day training
Goal: To create a vision of what EBP can accomplish for the organization and identify current infrastructure and resources for the journey.
Ideal for: Managers, charge nurse staff, pharmacists, quality improvement staff, librarians and administrative decision-makers.
This workshop addresses EBP from the organizational perspective and seeks to create team understanding about what adopting EBP will mean for your organization. Questions to be addressed include: What are the benefits in your clinical area? Why do we need a virtual library? What operational changes will have to be made? What obstacles could we face? By the end of the day, participants will identify short- and long-term goals for creating the infrastructure to support implementation of EBP.
Key stakeholders and Clinical Linkages staff will meet before the workshop via conference call to set measurable objectives for the training. This pre-workshop call also helps us customize the training to your organization’s specific needs.
Training the EBP Team Leaders
Goal: To establish a team-coordinated plan of action to move
forward with EBP.
Ideal for: The advanced practice nurse and beyond, as well as
quality improvement staff and librarians.
This intensive workshop is for those clinicians and staff who will
be leading the EBP implementation. Participants will learn how to ask
the right clinical question, perform powerful searches, appraise the
evidence they locate, and apply the best evidence to make informed decisions
about their patient’s care. They will also be trained on actually implementing
the CWA Blueprint© in their unit. This starts with evaluating the clinical
work environment, defining barriers to the use of evidence and then
choosing effective, research-proven strategies to overcome barriers
in implementing the evidence. For units that have already begun incorporating
EBP, the workshop can help staff understand and address specific challenges
that have arisen.
Key stakeholders and Clinical Linkages staff will meet before the workshop
via conference call to set measurable objectives for the training. This
pre-workshop call also helps us customize the training to your organization’s
specific needs.
Building an EBP Library
Goal: To build a virtual EBP library so clinicians across the
organization can locate evidence quickly and effectively.
Ideal for: Health librarians
A well-stocked, accessible library is critical to the success of any
EBP mission, so our health sciences librarian is also available to consult
with your organization. This consultation includes an assessment of
the depth and accessibility of current resources, recommendations for
resources to add, and help in simplifying the complex process of subscribing
to electronic databases. Training on evidence-based searches of the
medical literature is also available either on-site or via conference
call for library staff and clinicians.
On-Site Implementation Management
Clinical Linkages is also available to contract with the organization
on a longer-term basis, guiding the implementation journey while the
internal team develops the expertise to operate independently.
Readiness Assessment
Evidence points to the value of conducting a baseline assessment before
implementing practice change. Our readiness readiness assessment,
derived from the CWA Blueprint© can help prepare you for the EBP journey.
We will be happy to provide you with a complimentary confidential analysis
and discussion of the results.
Ready to get started?
The first step is to contact us for a complimentary
phone consultation. Whether you want to begin a dialogue within your
organization about EBP, or are ready to actually initiate a project
translating evidence into patient care, we will listen and help you
identify the best route for your organization’s needs and goals.
